As a professional photographer, there are many ways in which you can make money with your photos. You can sell your photos to magazines, newspapers, and other publications. You can market them through a gallery, or even through local coffee shops, libraries, and other spaces. You can also offer your services for hire to cover weddings, bar mitzvahs, company parties, and other events.

With any of these ventures, the biggest key to success is creating publicity, name recognition, and demand for your work. And the best place to do this is through the web. It is where you can create publicity and market online..

This is your basic guide for creating publicity and marketing your work online.

1. Set up a website.

You need to have a well-organized, visually attractive website where you can host your best photos. It should contain pieces from your portfolio, a short biography that highlights your experience and past work, and easily-found contact information. You can also share your story to establish presence. It should be easy on the eyes with a professional approach and easy to navigate so as not to confuse the viewer.
Of course, now that you have a website, you"ll want to send traffic there! The next two steps will help you achieve this goal.

2. Write articles on the subject of photography.

Be like an expert in writing interesting, informative, and engaging articles for others to learn from and enjoy. There are general and photography-specific sites in the web where you can publish your articles. Most will be happy to publish your article with a short byline and link leading back to your site.

3. Share & publicize your work through stock photography sites.

As a photographer, the most effective way for you to communicate with your audience is through the language of images. Through this, you can directly demonstrate your interests, talents, and abilities as a photographer.

There are several sites online which will allow you to share and publicize your work. Some sites provide the means for you to market your work to the public advertisement. Other royalty-free sites allow you to sell copies of your photos directly to designers and publishers, making a small commission each time your photo is downloaded.

To find out more, explore sites such as Shutterstock.com, Fotolia.com, iStockPhoto.com, PhotoBox.co.uk, and Plinkme.com.
