If you"ve been taught never to think more of yourself than you ought to or not to blow your own horn then realize you"re never going to get anywhere like that! If you know you"re good then why not advertise it. Especially in business it"s perfectly okay to toot your own horn.
You should start with all your clients. Their opinion of you matters. They"re the ones who will be talking to all their friends and getting you great word-of-mouth advertising which is free. You also need to post as many links to your work as possible or hire someone who is affordable to post the links for you. Give your product or service a discount and list your discount with free sites that rank high in the search engines. Rebate or coupon sites attract millions of visitors who do all their shopping online and can now save literally thousands of dollars in rebates and by clipping coupons. The more link credit you have the bigger the potential someone will see how good you really are. If you already have a web-site then you also get ranked higher in the search engines and get better visibility if you are linked to credible websites that already rank high in the search engines. We all know search engine visibility is a big deal these days.
Concentrate on what"s free (except for the time it takes to do it) and concentrate on how you can take small baby-steps toward the bigger journey of having an established sales and advertising campaign for your business. There are so many more ways to advertise your business for free. Stay tuned.
